Psychodynamic Counsellor

Rachel is a qualified and experienced counsellor and works with adults who may be facing a wide variety of issues including stress, anxiety, trauma, anger, loss and work or relationship-based problems. Rachel also works within a university counselling service as well as for a counselling charity.

Prior to training as a counsellor Rachel spent over 25 years working in management in a number of business and charity organisations, with her main focus being on mentoring, coaching and employee mental health. Rachel is able to bring this experience into her understanding of workplace dynamics and pressure.

Rachel offers a confidential and welcoming environment. Rachel supports her clients in gaining an understanding of difficult emotions and feelings and helps her clients make positive changes.

Training, experience and qualifications
Rachel is a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP)
and works according to their ethical framework. Rachel qualified from Gloucestershire
Counselling Service (GCS) with a diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (training accredited
by the British Psychoanalytic Council) and continually participates in further professional
development.
Rachel has a wide range of experience including in a university setting, a counselling charity
and in private practice.
Rachel holds professional liability insurance and Enhanced DBS (Criminal Records) clearance.

It is important that you feel able to speak freely about your issues. All counselling sessions
are completely confidential and I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling
Professions.

Fees

Counselling sessions:
Initial consultation (60 mins) £55.
In this session Rachel explores the nature of the problem with you, and whether the
counselling relationship would be the right option to help. It is an opportunity for you as the
client to feel comfortable with the counsellor and to decide if you wish to continue.

Ongoing sessions (50 mins)
Regular weekly sessions at the same time each week. It is difficult to know the number of
sessions you may need or how long you may want to continue. You will be able to influence
the pace of the counselling and there will be regular reviews of progress and your thoughts
about the work. The fee is £55 per session.
